Six staff members from the Children’s Rehabilitation Service offices in Gadsden and Anniston were excited to again participate in the Etowah County Special Olympics at the Gadsden City Football Field along with hundreds of athletes.

The group has been a part of the Etowah County Special Olympics for more than 10 years.

The crew manned four activities at their tent – a sensory station, a basketball toss, a bubble station, and a switch station.

The sensory station featured several plastic boxes with rice, dried beans, and kinetic sand. The boxes contained textured items like balls, toy cars, and other items for kids to find. Created by rehabilitation engineers, the basketball toss featured a switch-activated arm that shot basketballs into a hoop. The bubble station included three different switch-activated bubble machines, while the switch station had a fan, boom box for music, and switch toys.
