The Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services (ADRS), the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind (AIDB), and the University of South Alabama (USA) teamed up to host Blind Transition Day, April 29, an event to prepare students with visual impairments for life after high school.

Students attending Transition Day learned about the college experience from three panels of experts: a college panel, a consumer panel, and a jobs panel. Each group discussed details for the students to consider about life on campus, including mobility/accessibility, technology and accommodations, and financial assistance.

Students also got a glimpse into campus life through an hour-long tour of USA’s residence facilities via Jag Tran and a walking tour of the university’s recreational center.
