Parents, professionals gather for 14th Early Intervention Update
Parents and early intervention providers and other professionals gathered in Tuscaloosa today for the 14th Annual Early Intervention Update. The event was sponsored by the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services (for Alabama’s Early Intervention System) and the Three Rivers Early Intervention District VII Coordinating Council.
Some 200 participants attended the one-day workshop, which featured sessions on the importance of early intervention, transition from EI to school, first responders information for families and caregivers, the endocrine system and its importance to development, behavior intervention tools, and managing conflict. Between sessions, participants visited exhibits by Children’s Rehabilitation Service, United Cerebral Palsy of West Alabama, PAL (Parenting Assistance Line), Mitchell’s Place, Easter Seals West Alabama’s Home Visiting Program, and Sarrell Dental.
